EXPERIENCE

Many times people find themselves ill-equipped both in life and the career path they have chosen. Being a Gateway Intern could give you a growth edge before you go to school or enter the workforce. Or maybe you feel a call in your life to explore the possibility of ministry, and want to explore what this means for your life. Either way, gateway internships are the place to get real experience in both practical life and work as well as explore the calling and gifting God has laid on your life.

+ PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT

One of our goals in the Gateway Internship is growing you as a person. It isn't just that we want to help you sharpen your skills, but we also are intentional about wanting to see you grow as an individual in your faith, your relationships, and your understanding of yourself. By the end of this internship, you will be more confident in who you are as a person and interacting with the world around you.

+ PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

With the pressure of having to have your whole life figured out before you even enter university, the pressure can be stressful. The experience gained by taking a semester or a year off and grow in real-life work experience will elevate you above the crowd. Or maybe you are already on your career path but know some intentional development could help you accelerate the growth you wish to see professionally.

+ SPIRITUAL DEVELOPMENT

With the busyness of life and everything competing for our attention, it can be tough to find the time and space to grow in our faith. Taking some time to be lasered focused could be the catalyst for the life and spiritual walk you are hoping for, for the rest of your life.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

If you have a question that you were unable to find the answer to, please don’t hesitate to reach out and get more information. We are here to help.

+ IS THIS INTERNSHIP PAID?

This is an unpaid internship.

+ WHAT IS THE LENGTH OF THE INTERNERSHIP?

This internship runs in three different four-month blocks: September to December; January to April; May to August.

Specific start and end dates can be flexible, with an option to extend your internship past the allotted four-month block (if approved by the senior leadership). We do encourage a minimum four-month commitment as anything shorter would not give the exposure needed for a productive experience.

+ WHAT IS THE WEEKLY COMMITMENT?

A GatewayInternship is a 10-20 hour weekly commitment. If you are looking to get involved, yet the 10-hour minimum time commitment is not feasible, consider joining one of our teams by heading to www.gateway.ac/serve.

+ WHAT DOES A TYPICAL WEEK LOOK LIKE?

Every intern will have opportunities to be part of staff events, as well as a weekly training event where you would be discipled, invested in, and equipped. These weekly training events would primarily be led by one of our senior staff. The exact day and time would be decided once we finalized our intern roster for the season.

You will also be enrolled in GatewayAcademy at no cost. These classes happen on Wednesday nights (for six weeks each semester) and one Saturday all day. You can get the whole schedule and details of GatewayAcademy at www.gateway.ac/academy.

The rest of your schedule time would be organized by the staff in charge of your track to allow your experience to line up with the main ministry times (e.g. Youth on Friday Nights, Kids on Sunday morning, Creative Arts on Thursday evening for Sunday run-through). Each intern would also be expected to be involved with our Sunday morning services, and any special events like EQUIP and Holy Spirit Encounter.

It is our goal to be as flexible with this schedule to be able to accommodate other commitments (like school, work, or family).
